It is with sadness that we pass on this message from Ray’s family…

“We just want to let our friends know that Ray Payne, husband of Barb and dad of Beth Williams, Ginny Dow, Deb Payne Ritz and Judith Payne Crotts, died this morning at about 11:30. Thank you for your prayers these past days. We are grieving but thankful that he is at peace.” – Judith Payne Crotts

“So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.”

1 Corinthians 15:54–58

My thoughts and prayers go out to Barbara and the Payne family. I met Ray while working at the WTC. Ray was one of the Chaplains who were responsible for leading me to the Lord. RIP my friend.

It was our privilege to meet the Payne’s at Word of Life mission conferences each January. Then in recent years to worship with them from time to time at Faith Bible in Chestertown. The just participated in our Missions Conference there a few weeks ago! It was truly an honor to know him. Our thoughts and prayers are with Barb and her family.

Barb, It has been many years since Jack invited you and Ray to Schroon Lake after the death of your son. Our hearts went out to you then and my love and sympathy goes out to you now. Love and Prayers.

One can only believe Officer “Chaplain” Payne; You are in a much better place. Godspeed to you my friend! Given your choices in life; you have obviously left a lasting legacy! If only every family had one such as you, this world would be a much better place. Not only have you placed you life on the line for mortals, you have given your life to the Almighty! Bless you family!
